Photos: How Nigeria Air Force Helicopters Killed Bandit Leaders At Their Meeting In Zamfara

In a renewed efforts to exterminate bandits from the Northwest and North-Central region of the country, the Nigerian Army through it's Air Component, has killed several armed bandits, especially their leaders gathered for a meeting, while many of their weapons has been destroyed in Zamfara state.

The Army Media Coordinator, Maj. Gen. John Eneche, said in a Tweet on Sunday that scores of armed bandits have been killed and their weapons destroyed in air strikes executed by the Air Component of Operation HADARIN DAJI at 2 separate bandits’ camps, at Tsibiri and Manya, in Zurmi Local Government Area (LGA) in Zamfara State on Saturday.

Eneche added that sequel to credible Human Intelligence (HUMINT) reports indicating that the camp in Tsibiri, with its clusters of thatched huts nestled close to a group of trees, was being used by the bandits to house their fighters and store their weapons and ammunition, 2 Nigerian Air Force attack helicopters were dispatched.

The Nigerian Air Force attack helicopters, then engage the location scoring accurate hits on the target area leading to the destruction of the structures and the weapons and ammunition stored in them as well as the neutralization of bandits in the huts and surrounding bushes.

The attack helicopters later conducted an air strike on another camp South of Manya, which also resulted in the killing of more armed bandits, including some of their leaders, as they gathered for a meeting at the location.

The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air MarshalSadique Abubakar, commends the Air Component of Operations, for their professionalism and directs them to remain resolute whilst continuing to provide close air support for ongoing ground operations.

It will be recalled that on Saturday, President Muhammadu Buhari, in his reaction to the incessant banditry attacks in some Northern states, including Sokoto, Niger, Katsina, Zamfara and Kaduna states, warned bandits to surrender their weapons, or face disgraceful and violent ends.

Considering the various recent reports of the exploits being made by the Nigerian military by killing several Boko Haram terrorists, bandits, cattle rustlers and in some instances, voluntary surrending of some Boko Haram or ISWAP terrorists to the Nigerian troops, do you think Nigeria is near achieving success over this statewide killings usually perpetrated by this group of people ?

Kindly share your thoughts on this.
